Whiskey Whiskey
By Gene Johns
10/22/24

Today I put myself through mental anguish listening to the 17th ranked song on Billboard’s Hot Country Chart, Whiskey Whiskey, by Moneybag Yo, featuring Morgan Wallen.

The only thing country about this “song” is the title, Whiskey Whiskey. It certainly sounds like a traditional country standard, so I first thought it could be a good country song. I gave it a listen. Wrong!

The first clue this was going to be a country music malpractice event should have been the name of one of the participants in this abomination of a country music song, Moneybag Yo.

I know stereotyping is considered evil and racist, but what were the odds that the name Moneybag Yo wasn’t for a rapper? Fact: Moneybag Yo is a rapper with a Southern hip-hop music style. Not country!

That is not my description of Moneybag Yo. I had never heard of Moneybag Yo, so I asked Alexa who Moneybag Yo was, and that was Alexa’s description of Moneybag Yo.

The second reason I should have been skeptical about Whiskey Whiskey being a real country music song before listening to it was that Morgan Wallen was a “featured” artist listed as performing It.

Morgan Wallen has been mislabeled as a country artist by so-called country music executives, producers, Billboard, and country music radio programmers. His style and music are not country. Morgan Wallen only added to my discomfort when listening to Whiskey Whiskey.

Whiskey Whiskey is even worse than the current number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Chart, A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey. Not that the current number one song, A Bar Song (Tipsy), is any closer to real country music than Whiskey Whiskey. At least it did not use “MF” in its lyrics.

I don’t know if the radio version of Whiskey Whiskey includes the word “MF” or not. I hope it does not. It probably doesn’t, but I no longer listen to country music on the radio, so I don’t know.

Apparently, Morgan Wallen has no class, or he would not have participated in such a disgusting, profanity-filled recording with his participation. Shame on Morgan Wallen.

By the way, shame on Moneybag Yo for recording such vocalized rotting litter. No doubt young minds will hear this and adapt their language accordingly, practicing unfiltered and classless language. Moneybag Yo could probably care less.

Spotify’s Billboard Hot Country Chart listing plays the version that contains profanity, including the “MF” word in the lyrics. Amazon and YouTube also offer the profanity-filled version.

Whiskey Whiskey should be a number-one song. Not on Billboard’s Hot Country charts, although it may become a number one. It should be the number one song as an example of what is wrong with today’s country music genre.

The only thing I have more to say after listening to Whiskey Whiskey. I need a drink! I’ll take a whiskey, please.

Below is the official video for Whiskey Whiskey. I don’t offer it because I think it is worth listening to. I offer it so you can hear for yourself, in case you haven’t heard it, this pathetic excuse for country music. I challenge anyone to consider this song country music and why this version of the song is even worth recording.

Warning: below is Whiskey Whiskey in it’s profanity-filled version:
